Summertime!

I cannot express how much I have enjoyed my first day of summer. It was so nice to not have to do anything today. I needed to catch up on laundry, but I also treated myself to some shopping and a much needed pedicure. I'm going to try to be a better blogger now that school is out... hopefully I'll have somethings to post about.

We're headed to Opp tomorrow for Mallory's graduation, and have several beach and lake trips planned during the next two months. For now, I'm going to post some pictures of sewing projects that I've completed:

Summer Dessert

I love to bake. Even if I don't need to. There's something about making desserts that I really enjoy. I'm going to try to do a few posts with some recipes for "summer" desserts. Here's the first:




Dreamsicle Cake
1 box yellow cake mix
1 small box instant vanilla pudding
1 small box orange Jell-o
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup oil
1 tsp. orange extract

Mix all ingredients together. Beat 3 minutes on medium speed. Pour into 2 round greased and floured pans. Bake for 30 minutes at 350. Allow cakes to cool.

Filling and Frosting:
8 oz Cool Whip
8 oz Sour Cream
Sugar (about 1 1/2 cups)
Vanilla (about 1 1/2 tsp)

Mix Sour Cream and Cool Whip together. Add sugar and vanilla to taste.

Spread Frosting on the top of one cake, layer and then frost entire outside.
Garnish with oranges if desired.

Bad Blogger...

So it appears I have fallen off the face of the earth! Sorry for the lack of posts. School has been really busy trying to wrap up the year. Only 9 days left! Drew has been working weekends so we haven't gotten a lot done, but I have been working on several different projects. I'll try to get some pictures up in the next few days.
I've also been thinking about posting some good dessert recipes. Shealy- send me the picture of the cake so I can put it up! Hopefully I'll have more time to blog and more things to blog about soon.
