The Average Alabamian

I got this as an e-mail this morning, and just had to share!

The average Alabamian shops at Walmart.
The average Alabamian considers himself an Alabama fan.
The average Alabamian never went to college anywhere.
The IQ of the average Alabamian is 97.6.
For these reasons, you will often see more Alabama stuff for sale at Walmart than Auburn stuff and the Auburn things will often be discounted...because the "average" Alabamian is not buying the Auburn stuff.

Auburn fans prefer to be ABOVE AVERAGE!!!!

Baby Will

Parker's boyfriend (Baby Will) was born on Tuesday October 12th.  We were planning to go to Birmingham that afternoon to visit with Tom, Amanda, Big Brother John and to meet Baby Will, but my sweet ADPis had planned the shower...so we waited until Sunday to go visit. (It was a really long wait since I was at the hospital when John was born!).  We spent several hours with the Esslingers on Sunday loving on that sweet baby and watching big brother practice his many sports!
Parker did not like sharing her space... once she rolled right up
against where Will was resting on my stomach!

Drew got some practice...
sweet, sweet baby

if you look closely, you can see the ball... he hit a "home wun"

happy mommy & sweet baby

"Surprise" Baby Shower

My sweet ADPi girls planned a surprise baby shower for me last week during our monthly advisory meeting.  I ended up ruining the surprise because Amanda had Baby Will on Tuesday (another post) and I wanted to go to Birmingham to see them.   After some freaking out on the girls' part, they ended up telling me what they had planned, so of course, I went to advisory!

They ordered a cake and had other yummy snacks for us after the meeting.

Parker got an Auburn burp cloth and a tiger lovey,

a monogrammed diaper cover,
bibs, socks, teethers, a bottle brush and a pack-n-play!

Thanks girls!  I really appreciate you all planning that for me!  You are the best!

My Latest Project

While the boys were busy working last Saturday, and we were without cable, I decided to finish the daygown that I started working on before I was pregnant!  When I first started smocking it, there were several people in our Sunday School class who were pregnant, but weren't sure of the gender yet.  I figured that surely one of them would have a girl... well I was wrong!  They ALL had boys.  We were the first baby girl, and I decided to just keep it for Parker.  Now, I just hope the season continues positively and that we have a bowl game that we can wear it for after she gets here!

Way Behind

Sorry for the major delay in posting... our internet went out for several days and we ended up switching companies.  We are finally back up and running!  We've been busy around the Mims' household in the last few weeks.  I've had two doctors appointments, both of which have gone very smoothly.  I'm measuring right on schedule and everything else looks good.  Baby girl's heartrate is staying pretty steadily around 150.
I've got several things to update on, but I'm going to try to keep it all in chronological order.  So, sorry for the major blog updates over the next several days.

Last Saturday (October 9), Drew's dad came up to help him install crown moulding in the nursery.  He arrived around noon, and after a trip to Home Depot, our garage turned into this:
They worked almost all day cutting and nailing the pieces up.  There were a few difficult corners and one piece of wood that just wouldn't quite work in any corner.  So after several cuts and  a second trip to Home Depot, they got it all installed.

Drew took a break that night to go over to Clayton & Shealy's to watch the Auburn game.  (Out of internet, out of cable... thanks again guys for letting us invite ourselves over :) It's great to have friends who don't mind that!)

Sunday afternoon, Drew added the caulk to the walls, and Monday he finished up the paint job.  I absolutely love the way the room looks now!  He and his dad did a great job.  He's really enjoying getting into the woodworking, and the nursery is getting closer and closer to being done.  I promise that you will get pictures as soon as it is finished!

Already Spoiled?

My dad came to stay with us last week while he attended a Bank Director's College that was held at the University. He brought down a collection of things for Miss Parker that he purchased this summer at the outlets.  We had a fun night of opening gifts and looking at all of the things!
Then, on Saturday, Shealy and I went to the Kids' Clothes Connection consignment sale.  Neither of us were after anything specific, just somewhat browsing... I found several gowns and footed sleepers in excellent condition (some never worn) and for great prices.

Can we say spoiled??

Zoo Trip

We had a great time at the zoo on Thursday!  The kids were all very well behaved and the weather was perfect.  I had a group of three boys who had never been to the zoo, and that just makes it more worth while.  It is so much fun to go and watch their faces as they see animals for the first time.  They were so excited!  I took my new camera, but didn't get a lot of time to play with it.  I left it in automatic, but loved the quality of the pictures!  I can't wait to have time to actually play with it, with photography subjects around :)!

So excited to see the tigers!

Watching the Chimps!

Enamored by the monkeys!

We have to have a silly picture, of course!
